Das Leben Der Anderen, the Academy Award winner for best foreign language film, is stunning. Elegantly shot, beautifully directed, and brilliantly acted. It portrays an intimate image of life within the Deutsch Demokratik Republik. Statements for “Best Film of the Year”, are well deserved.

The film tells the story of Georg Dreyman, a playwright and author writing within the wall. He is closely monitored and watched by Wiesler, a hardened Stassi (Stattsicherheit) investigator, a loner. As Wiesler becomes more entangled and caught up in Dreyman’s life and relationships, he becomes attached to the life of the man he is investigating. Even taking a volume of Brecht from Dreyman’s apartment, of which the film quotes beautifully. From this moment on, an amazing set off events are sparked, and the tragedy of the story unfolds.

Das Leben Der Anderen is a film which will keep you on the edge of your seats. Because of my job I had to see this film 8 times. I can tell you I still love the film. This is my best film of the year.

FILM REVIEW – Zidane & Unconcious

Thursday, October 12th, 2006

Zidane:

For me, I did not enjoy this film. I think you need to be a big Zidane fan to enjoy this film. The camera direction was excellent, and footage was very well shot, very artistic.

5/10

Unconcious:

After seeing Zidane, I could have enjoyed anything. Unconcious is a fantastic and light-hearted Spanish comedy. The film was probably not suitable for a young audience. Excellent film direction, and photography, a good Script.
